Japan, Land of the Rising Sun: Connecting Flight at Kuala Lumpur

At a very young age (not 1 year even) Casey gets excited when we travel. It was never planned but we always make him feel that he is part of the journey and not just a little baby we have to carry around. It helps that we prepare him weeks before even include him in the planning stage. His mind is set and he is never cranky, he gets too excited at times. Now at 2 years old, we give him responsibility. He has his own backpack which holds his toys, we call it giraffe as it has the shape of a giraffe. He also has his own luggage we call Trunkie, a colorful carry on that he can use to ride and play with on long waits. It also holds his milk and diapers and what not. Giraffe is a backpack that we ask him to carry while throughout the journey we ask him time and again where Trunkie is. Our journey to Japan is the longest flight by far. Connecting flights is never really a concern but having to sit on the plane for 7 long hours is something that we have been really anxious about. We did our readings and looked into activities that we can do with our little one. We took a night flight so that it would match his sleep time and we stuff giraffe with all his favorite toys and Trunki with anything else he might need. Amidst all that, our son surprised us. He was in the best of mood and is very ready to ride the plane. In fact, he even got cheeky with one of the flight attendants. But most of all, he can't wait to see Mickey Mouse!

My son celebrated his 2nd Birthday in Tokyo, Japan so we can get to visit one of his favorite cartoon character of all time. Our journey will be documented in phases as we did try to see as many Points of Interests (POIs) as we can being the tourists that we are. Our journey starts in Changi Airport (Singapore) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Malaysia) via Malaysia Airlines. This is a 1 hour connecting flight. Afterwhich is the dreaded 7 hour flight from KLIA to Narita International Airport in Tokyo Japan. This is the first leg of our journey.

For some reason it always drizzle the day we travel. It was a very light shower though, nothing to be concerned about.

Checking in was a breeze with Malaysian Airlines. They checked us in all the way to Narita that we do not have to check-in in KLIA. This means we do not have to bother with our checked in luggage during our connecting flight.

Casey is too comfortable in the airport already. I think he even loves it!
I do have a little wanderer! :)

We ate at an Indian restaurant just before boarding.

Charging. Details like this is the reason why Changi is the worlds best airport!

There's our plane! Casey found playmates in the boarding gates again.

Picture with the flight attendant. Look at my sons cheeky smile!

A quick 2 hour stop over in KLIA. Previously I blogged about the lack of amenities in KLIA outside the departure gates. It is definitely a different story once you are inside the boarding gates. There is even a clinic inside. We have to drop by because right after we landed I felt this sharp pain in my stomach and I just want to make sure I can stand the 7 hour flight after. I got medicine and was fine.

I had extra ringgit so I finished it all in the massage chair! Perfect way to wait for our next flight.

Friendly and smiling even when it's past his bedtime.

Finally boarded and after a few conversations he finished his milk and slept. He is already to tall for the bassinet obviously but it is still far more comfortable than the chair.

He woke up in a very good mood. We showed him Mr. Sun! It was one of the best airplane sky views we ever had!

Looking back at our food that flight, its the best yet!

..... to be continued.
