Throwback: Bali, Land of the Gods (Day Two - Part 1 of 2)

It was a full packed adventure on our second day at Bali. I think we'd go with 2 blog entries for our second day as we went to 8 Points of Interests. We got out early in the morning and ended with a late yet nice Balinese dinner with dancers to boot. To somehow go along with the flow of our day let us go along with the wonderful pictures taken by the husband.
Either he is super excited or he is just taking advantage of the quiet time as me and Casey was still sound asleep, the husband went to the beach to catch the sunrise. He also went around our hotel and took wonderful pictures of the surroundings. Looking back at this pictures made me realize how lucky we were for the chance to be in such nice place.
We noticed the similarity between Philippines and Indonesia. I can imagine our coastal areas looking like the pictures above. The nipa huts, sandy beaches and palm trees had a very familiar feel to it.
Giving Casey a bath was made easier with the baby bathtub from Bali baby.  He woke up in a very good mood because of the familiar items we rented from them despite the very new environment. I especially love the fact that  we do not have to carry the bulky sterilizer with us and one is conveniently waiting for us in our hotel room.
Prior to our arrival at Bali we already booked our driver. I found him online and now we still keep in touch through facebook. Made Dodi is a highly commended driver. You do not have to take just my word for it, you can visit his site or even look him up in Trip Advisor and you will know what I mean. During the day that we booked, the driver Made has another booking already so his brother gave us the tour of the island. Made Dodi is a family of drivers so he will make a way for you to have the tour you deserve.

Basically what you need to do is tell your driver where you want to go. For us, I gave our driver, Wayan a list of Points of Interests (POI) we want to see. We went to them and more. Along the way are a number of places that Wayan recommends we see. We were glad we took his advice. We saw a side of Bali that is off the travel guides.

We started with the place where they make all this famous Batik.

Then we visited a place where they make silver jewelries! This was special because they can customize a piece for customers. So my less than a year old son got his very own ring to fit his tiny fingers.
Then we visited a painters house. He has too many beautiful Bali pictures! We told Wayan we wanted to buy a painting for the house so he brought us to a painters house which really looked like a showroom. We even had a picture taken with the painter himself!
One of the POI's we told Wayan was Kintamani. We had our buffet lunch there while enjoying the view. It was such a relaxing experience. Be sure to bring shawl as it gets chilly in that part of the island.
