Casey doesn't have to miss swimming class while we were on vacation because Istana had a pool. So we took advantage and had a quick dip before preparing for dinner. Casey has developed a very positive attitude towards the water that the mention of swimming and pool excites him! He found playmates in the kids wading pool and was confident enough to wade slowly around with water around his torso!
After a quick dip we were surprised by a well made bed, again! Its not even turn down service time yet and here we are returning to a bed you would want to sleep in already! Istana does know how to treat you like royalty.
We finished our bath in the tub. Casey had so much fun with all the bubbles! He definitely has a thing for bubble baths!
30 June is our anniversary so i booked dinner. Istana gave me a choice of a fine dining resto or their buffet dinner when i inquired about it while doing my booking. Looking at the reviews i chose Taman Sari as they had wonderful reviews. Ian and I can't enjoy fine dining dinner anyway with a 1 year old in tow. I can only imagine my son ruining the moment saying, 'water, please mommy!' yet again, it was a wonderful decision. The staff of Taman Sari was very accommodating and gracious. They set up a special table for us complete with rose petals. Everyone was looking at us when we entered the restaurant and being ushered into the specially decorated table. We also tried to dress up for the dinner. As it is very tough to have Ian wear pants at least he wore jeans, that for me is dressing up on my husbands standards already.While waiting for me as I was packing and dressing up my boys went down the lobby first. My son being the gregarious little monkey that he is had pictures with the Arab kids in the lobby.
As you can see, you'll be spoiled for choices with the buffet options. Food was delicious but most of all service was awesome! I have to throw my recommendation to Animul, our server that night. He is not really just our server but i suppose he is taking care of our area. The level of professionalism especially on how he anticipated our needs was beyond words. An example would be best way to describe the service that we got in Taman Sari Brasserie, with Animul specifically. As we were with Casey my husband and i take turns in getting food that we want in the buffet. While going for the dessert, my husband failed to get dessert spoon for his chocolate pudding so he used his tablespoon. Before his second spoon full of the pudding Animul was already there with a dessert spoon. You talk about anticipating the needs of guests! I am most impressed with how he dealt with Casey. My son started to become restless and noisy in his child seat he started to throw whatever he can get his hands on. Animul quickly gave him pretzels from the bread bar. That quick thinking made us eat dinner in peace. Yes, we love our experience in Taman Sari not only for the food but for the awesome service. We confirmed this during breakfast as well on our second morning. We had it at Taman Sari and we received impeccable service all the same from the crew who made sure we were seated comfortably and had everything we need for a wonderful and unforgettable meal. We didn't just get awesome service for dinner because of the reserved dinner date but just because that's how they defined service even when we were just ordinary hotel guests taking our free morning buffet.
The gem for us that night was not the sumptuous spread or the chocolate fountain but our amazing server, Animul.
It was an unforgettable Anniversary Dinner, indeed. Thanks to Taman Sari.
